90TH ANNUAL CAROLINA CUP

March 29, 2025

The Carolina Cup is a major steeplechase horse race and significant social event that takes place at the Springdale Racecourse in Camden, South Carolina. The University of South Carolina offers a photojournalism workshop course in which I participated in this past spring. The workshop gave me so much knowledge and helped develop my work in photojournalism. My photo story was published in The State Newspaper and won third place in the nation for the College Media Association Pinnacle Awards.

Fun fact! I tore my ACL and had to get knee reconstructive surgery three weeks before the event. I was not going to let it stop me, so I sported a motorized scooter all day!

Scholarship Winner

The Carolina Cup workshop is funded and made possible by Janet Tarbox who donates in memory of her husband who shared a love for photography with her. I was honored to receive one of the two scholarships given out for the best photo story. Pictured with me is my amazing professor who taught the course, Renee Ittner-McManus.
